Calendar Of EventsAnger Coach in the news, community and the web

  • The Anger Coach has been selected to be the mentor for a "conflict resolution" circle on a new goal-oriented social networking site called thecircle.org
  • The Anger Coach was recently interviewed for an upcoming article in the American Chemical Society Careers blog. Titled "Lost Your job? Shed Your Anger Before Seeking Another," the article emphasizes the importance of not taking anger about loss of your last job into new job interviews. The article, written by Patrick Young, will appear on the blog early in 2009.
  • The Anger Coach has recently launced a new certification program for anger management community educators. This twenty-hour program is appropriate for anyone who is in the important position of educating youth and others about emotional control, dealing with feelings and positive ways to deal with life stress. The program is appropirate for community educators, teachers, after-school programs, driver's education programs, martial arts schools, home-schooling parents, marriage education programs and many others. This certification is not meant to qualify people to use our model of anger management in clinical situations (such as substance abuse counselors); rather it is meant for prevention and education programs. We are proud to announce that Mental Health Program of The Pasadena School District is the first group of "graduates" of this innovative program. More information by clicking here.

Happiness
Can you control happiness?
As I mentioned in my last blog, psychologists are now doing major research in determining what makes people happy. These researchers are called Positive Psychologists and some of what they are discovering is fascinating. Take Sonja Lyubomirsky at The University of California at Riverside who wrote a book based on her research called “The How [...]

Happiness
Is Happiness an antidote to anger?
I just returned from a 3-day conference in Philadelphia sponsored by the International Positive Psychology Association. The positive psychology movement is about ten years old but has really “taken off” in the last year or so. It is about scientific research related to concepts like optimism, happiness, resilience, courage, love, achievement, and goodness. The [...]

Conflict Resolution
Anger Management often involves conflict resolution
Persons often get into angry outbursts and escalations with each other because they don’t know how to resolve conflicts. Often, one person sees himself/herself as the victim which justifies retribution, retaliation, or “getting even” with the other, who also sees himself/herself as the victim. No where was this more clearly demonstrated than on a recent episode [...]

Notice to Consumers

Statement to Consumers of our Organization

As a consumer to Anger Management, we recognize it is important to make an informed, educated decision when deciding on choosing a provider for classes, training or education. We would like our current, potential, and future consumers to clearly understand our mission, core values, objectives and partner relationships.

The Anger Coach, AJ Novick Group and our training organization, Century Anger Management provides high quality education, training, and client services in the field of Anger Management.

We have the following Core Values:

  • We act with integrity and honesty at all times.
  • We are passionate about providing quality education and training to our consumers.
  • We are open and respectful to others and dedicated to making them better.
  • We are willing to embrace challenges and see them through.
  • We are committed to providing excellent service to the public and continually strive to improve.
  • We hold ourselves accountable for commitments and firmly stand behind our model of intervention, our advertising to the public, and our commitment to consumers.

Our model of intervention, developed by Dr. Tony Fiore, Ph.D. and co-authored by Ari Novick, M.A was published in January 2005. In the absence of state laws regulating anger management providers, we gained some very important approvals that validate the usage of our model and training. Our model is approved by the California State Board of Corrections (Certificate # 03530-031088) for the training of Probation, Parole Officers and Corrections staff. It is also approved for CEUs for LCSWs and LMFT's by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS PCE# 3128) and CAADE (CP10704C1105), California. The National Anger Management Association also approves our model and training

Our organizations are affiliated with the National Anger Management Association (NAMA, www.namass.org). This organization is new and is one of two organizations promoting the field of Anger Management. The National Anger Management Association is a newly growing, credible and legitimate, professional association organization in the field of Anger Management. Having two professional organizations helps all providers gain more exposure to the public, regardless of the model of intervention used. We believe in having more than one voice for professionals in the field of Anger Management in order to service the public and give choices and alternate approaches to consumers. Consumers need to be aware that there are various approaches and models to anger management and no single model or intervention has national or international legal acceptance by any Federal or State agency to date.

"The National Anger Management Association is an independent, non-profit, professional organization for the advancement of anger management services, research, and professional provider community". It takes time for national recognition to take place for any new organization, and for a provider list to grow. This is a normal part of development for any new business or organization.
